What Sets Us Apart?

Our Quality

What sets Sugarbush apart goes far beyond appearance.

Each piece begins with the selection of a premium European yarn, globally renowned for its elasticity, durability, and soft touch. It took years of research to find a material that doesn’t stretch out, that keeps its perfect shape, and offers absolute comfort.

Every bikini is meticulously tailored to enhance the body, withstand constant wear, and dry quickly, all while preserving the artisanal delicacy of crochet.

When you wear Sugarbush, you feel the difference, in the touch, the fit, and the confidence it brings.

From Skepticism to a Revolution in Crochet.

Who we are…

Welcome to SugarBush Bikinis', where exquisite handmade crocheted bikinis come to life in Palm Beach, Florida.

Founded by Chenelle Marie and Mother, Penny Mary, our brand is inspired by the Protea, South Africa’s national flower, affectionately known as the “Sugarbush”.

This name embodies our passion for the beauty of nature and craftsmanship.

Made in the picturesque Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape of South Africa.

The Journey

The journey began when Chenelle’s Poppa gave her a ride to  accompany her Nana, a dedicated knitter for the homeless, to restock yarn at ‘Sparkles’ in Bitou, Plettenberg Bay…

Where & How It All Began

What began as a chance meeting with Lana, an exceptionally talented crochet artist, quickly grew into something far more meaningful. From that initial connection, we discovered a shared vision and set out to combine artistry, creativity, research, and purpose to reimagine what handmade swimwear could be.

Together, we elevated traditional crochet into a luxury bikini collection, crafted with premium materials, impeccable fit, and a soul that balances timeless craftsmanship with modern innovation.

The Story Of Our Logo

SugarBush Bikinis' logo is a heartfelt creation by founder Chenelle Marie, who hand-painted a protea using her grandmother’s acrylic paints. The design of the protea was chosen with certainty, but the brand's name remained a mystery for three weeks!! After a Google search for “different names for protea,” they discovered that the protea’s nickname is “sugarbush,” and that’s when everything clicked. The hand-painted artwork was then digitized and featured across the brand’s collection—printed on shirts, embroidered on hats, and even engraved on a small metal charm sewn into the crochet detail on the back of the bikini bottoms. This thoughtful combination of artistry and heritage truly embodies the spirit of Sugarbush Bikinis.

From an Idea to a Vision

We saw crochet not as a limitation, but as an opportunity to refine and elevate it into something extraordinary. Together, we reshaped designs, experimented with new techniques, and pushed ourselves to create pieces that blended tradition with sophistication.

Every step was a lesson, each adjustment, each discovery brought us closer to redefining handmade swimwear. It was more than design; it was a shared passion, a partnership, and a purpose.

From the moment we met, a journey began, one that continues to transform crochet into luxury bikinis that celebrate elegance, innovation, and meaning.

The Beginning of a Dream

That’s how our vision for crochet was born:

Handmade pieces that sculpt and flatter the body, created to last, with a purpose that goes beyond aesthetics, to transform lives through art.
